Some of us have a tough relationship with easy. Just saying the word makes us feel like slackers, lazy and less than. Why should anyone ever look for the easy way of doing things? We’ve been told for so long that easy is to be equated with words like weakness, sorriness, laziness, and more. This has led us to developing deep feelings that leave us running from anything that is labeled easy. In fact, we actually go about expecting everything to be hard!
Well, my friends, it’s time to release the negative easy propaganda and begin to look at it a different way. Believing easy to be bad or negative subconsciously makes us punish ourselves by navigating toward things that are the hardest. As in “life must be hard, a struggle”. We live life thinking that anything we want should be hard to get and that struggle is to be expected.
This is so not true. Somethings are difficult, yes, let’s admit that. But all things are not meant to be difficult. To reframe our relationship with easy just look at how our body works. How are we breathing right now? So easily. Think about how when we suffer a scratch, we often don’t know it until we feel a scab has grown over it - easily, with no awareness or direction from us. Our eyelids, they blink when something is aggravating our eyes - quicker than we can even think to direct them. And just think about all the other functions going on inside our body without us having to concentrate on them, regulate them, or do anything hard. The blueprint of our body management is designed on easy!
Easy allows us to be more kind to our bodies and minds. Easy allows us to relax deeper. Easy gives us the energy to tend to the stuff that is truly hard. It allows us to be more creative, passionate, energetic, and happy. It also allows us to be open to receiving the gifts we are offered, with grace. So, let's accept a compliment with grace. Let's receive a blessing with grace. Let's release the suspicion of something going wrong soon because the blessing came easily.
After all, finding a easier way of doing things is the most intelligent use of our knowledge and talent. Let’s embrace Easy, Ease, Easiness as words of power and creativity. Let’s release the idea that harder is better. Let’s take the time to create ease. In doing so we create more moments of joy, rest, and healthiness.
